Nasira Habib – an international expert in organic gardening and farming – will be unfolding the whys and hows of Vermicomposting at home and farm scale
The three-hour long training includes

- What is the role of vermicompost in soil health
- How does vermicompost help plants in growing food
- How to make vermicompost at home and farm scale
- Hands-on workshop on vermicomposting

Venue: Organica Pakistan, 39 – A, Street 2, P&V Scheme Tarlai, Islamabad.
Natural, open-pollinated seeds of winter vegetables, books and other items will also be available.
Profile of the Trainer
Nasira Habib – an educationist, environmentalist and organic gardener – is the founder of Khoj – Society for People’s Education and Organica Pakistan. She graduated from the University of Essex (England) and the Institute of Social Studies (Netherlands). She believes in education that is relevant, integrative and participatory. Therefore, she has been championing the inclusion of growing food, based on the laws of nature, in the school curriculum. Currently, she is a participant in the Soil Food Web foundation course at Dr Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web School in the USA.
She has researched, experimented, taught and grown organic food in diverse conditions. She is the author of گھریلو باغبانی (a manual on organic home gardening), بچوں کی باغبانی ( a handbook for children on ecological gardening) and Invisible Farmers, among other publications. She has also learnt and exchanged ideas and experiences with organic gardeners and farmers of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam and Germany. She is also a member of several international movements on organic farming.
She is the winner of an FAO award for her services in the field of agricultural extension. She is also a member of the steering committee of Pesticide Action Network Asia & the Pacific.
Most recently, she was awarded a certificate of Recognition by the Governor of Punjab on the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan – 14th August 2022.
