Grow onions from seedlings.
Fill the pot with equal amounts of cocopeat and compost/vermicompost and moisten the mix well. Sow seeds about ½ inch deep in small pots to grow seedlings. The seeds will germinate in 5-10 days depending on the conditions.
Transfer seedlings to a larger pot or to a garden bed when they are six inch tall. Maintain a 4-6 inch distance between the inground plants in all directions.
Onions perform best in well-drained, fertile soil. Improve your soil by mixing compost.
Onions need at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
Mulch the base of the plants with straw, fallen laws, compost etc.
